Welcome to the 2019 Biennial Southern Silvicultural Research Conference
Tuesday, 12-March-2019 though Thursday, 14-March-2019
Sam’s Town Hotel and Casino in downtown Shreveport, Louisiana
sponsored by the Louisiana Tech University and USDA Forest Service, Southern Research Station
This year we will be commemorating the passage of 20 biennial meetings and 40-years of southern silvicultural research history. Initiated in 1980, The Biennial Southern Silvicultural Research Conference provides a forum for scientists and practitioners actively engaged in the broad field of southern silviculture to report their study results, to present new concepts and techniques, to discuss topics of mutual interest, to coordinate cooperative efforts, and to stay current on developments in the field. Scientists, foresters, landowners, and anyone else related to forest management have found the conferences and their proceedings to be valuable sources of information on current and developing trends in southern silviculture.
Presentations emphasize research in: pine silviculture; longleaf pine; nutritional amendments; vegetation management; site preparation; pine natural and artificial regeneration; hardwood natural and artificial regeneration; intermediate treatments; midstory competition control, growth and yield; water quality; forest health; fire; economics; and wildlife ecology.
The thee day event will include two days of four concurrent sessions, a poster session, and two optional field tours on the third day.
